Eddie grew up in Sale Creek, Tennessee, and is a graduate of Sale Creek High School. He joined the Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department in 1986 at the age of 16 and held the positions of Firefighter, Lieutenant, and Captain over his 9-year career as a volunteer with the department. In 1995 Eddie met his wife and moved to Signal Mountain, Tennessee where they started their family. In 1996 Eddie joined Walden Ridge Emergency Service serving as a Volunteer Firefighter/DPO until 2005. In 1997 Eddie started his professional Firefighting career with the Town of Signal Mountain Fire Department where he held the position of Firefighter until 2005. On October 26, 2005, Eddie accepted the position of Firefighter with the City of Red Bank Fire Department. Eddie has just started his 17th year with the City of Red Bank Fire Department and in his 17 years has worked his way through the ranks from Firefighter/DPO, Engineer, and Lieutenant (Shift Commander), to now, the Deputy Chief/ Fire Marshal of the department.

On December 7th, 2021, Eddie will start his 35th year in the Fire Service in which he has received numerous awards including, 1989 Sale Creek Fire Department Firefighter of the Year, 2008 Red Bank Fire Department Firefighter of the Year, and 2021 State of Tennessee Region 3 Star of Life award. Eddie is certified by the State of Tennessee as a Firefighter I and II, Driver Pump Operator, Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer I, and Hazardous Material Technician.

Eddie and his wife Sherry have been married for 26 years in which they have 2 adult daughters, Katie, and Paige. Both Eddie and Sherry have been involved in both of their daughter's extracurricular activities in which both have served on the Board of Directors of the Signal Mountain Girls Softball Association and the Red Bank Girls Softball Association. Eddie also coached youth softball for 10 years.

Eddie is an avid football fan. On fall Friday nights, Eddie can be heard at Red Bank Community Stadium/ Tom Weathers Field as the Public Address Announcer for the Red Bank Lions which he began six years ago. On Saturdays, he can be found at Neyland Stadium or in front of his television cheering for his beloved Tennessee Volunteers.
